I don’t watch as many movies as TV shows because I feel like they require more concentration and longer “quiet” periods to enjoy properly. Nevertheless, I have been taking advantage of having more “quiet” periods, in general, because I’m home, all the time… so here are a few of the movies that I’ve watched!

I Love You, “I Love You, Man”

“I Love You, Man” is my favorite movie. If I had a bad day at work, I’ll throw it on as soon as I get home to help me relax. If I’m having a good day, I’ll throw it on to make the day even better. If I need to get work done, I’ll throw it on so that I have some sense of the passage of time. If… you get the picture.

It’s definitely a niche choice. I’m sure that, in the grand scheme of things, it’s probably not the most memorable work in any of its cast members’ filmographies. It’s no “Star Wars” or “Lord of the Rings” either – people don’t go to conventions and scream “SLAP-A DA BASS” to each other (… as far as I know??).

A Slightly-More-Than-Casual Rent Fan’s Quickly Written Review of Rent: Live

When I was in high school, my friend Ciara took me to a local production of Rent, featuring a boy that she had a crush on in the ensemble. Nothing ever happened between them, but the show did spark a lifelong obsession with the musical for both of us. Over the next few weeks, we watched the movie on repeat and learned all the words to our favorite songs – my favorites were “Light My Candle” and, of course, “La Vie Boheme”! (Try singing those, or really any song from Rent, as quietly as possible so your parents don’t question your new favorite movie!)
